It’s one of our favorite times of the year at Sparks! April is World Music Therapy Week, and we are so excited to highlight the music therapists who are devoted to our students’ success. Each therapist goes through a rigorous training program, including at least 80 hours of academic coursework and 1,200 hours of supervised clinical work.
Sparks’ therapists are specifically trained in trauma and the use of music to address social and emotional development. Sparks’ students have especially benefited from the therapists’ support to develop their social and emotional skills.
Over the next few months, we will be introducing our music therapists in our newsletter. Here is one of our newest therapists, Hannah-Joy!
Hannah-Joy Mach is a board-certified music therapist and native Austinite. Joy is currently a part of the team at North Austin Music Therapy and works with a variety of populations including: psych, geriatrics, children of all abilities and hospice patients.
For free time, Joy loves writing music, spending time with family and hiking in nature.
