Our program began the 2016-17 school year with a bang! Actually, with a lot of bangs!!!
Our young Percussion Ensemble students have been practicing with Djembes, learning how to hold them and play them. Perhaps more importantly, these children are learning the discipline of working within a group setting.
Amber Sarpy is teaching them the all-important skills of listening, watching for cues, and carrying out instructions for playing and singing together.
First, they learned to feel the beat by dancing to the music. Then they got to play the beats on their Djembes. And, they are having a great time!
